Haowen Yang, Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), holds a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology and an Honours Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Toronto. She works from an integrative, humanistic-oriented framework and offers psychotherapy services in English and Mandarin.
During different stages of life — including academic years, early adulthood, and beyond — many people find themselves feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or quietly exhausted. Academic pressure, life transitions, relationship concerns, and ongoing self-doubt can gradually build up, leaving you feeling anxious, low in mood, or disconnected from yourself. While these experiences can be painful, they can also become meaningful opportunities for reflection, healing, and growth.
I provide a warm, respectful, and non-judgmental space for both students and adults to explore their experiences openly and at their own pace. I believe therapy is a collaborative process — one where your story, values, and lived experiences are deeply respected.
My approach is integrative, with a strong emphasis on humanistic therapy. I draw from evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT). Rather than applying a one-size-fits-all method, I tailor each session to your unique needs, goals, and emotional rhythm.
🌱 Areas of Focus
Anxiety, low mood, and emotional overwhelm
Academic stress, burnout, and motivation difficulties
Life transitions, identity exploration, and uncertainty about the future
Self-doubt, perfectionism, and fear of failure
Emotional regulation and coping skills
Building self-compassion, resilience, and inner stability
Many of my clients are thoughtful, caring individuals — including students and adults — who may appear capable on the outside but feel internally stuck. They may be caught in cycles of worry, self-criticism, or emotional exhaustion. Together, we work to better understand these patterns, develop healthier ways of relating to challenges, and reconnect with a sense of clarity, confidence, and calm.
Reaching out for support can feel intimidating, especially if you have been carrying things on your own for a long time. You don’t have to do it alone. In our work together, my goal is to create a space where you can feel genuinely seen, supported, and accepted — a space where healing and growth can unfold naturally and at your own pace.
